Trump’s 100-Day Approval Rating Hits Lowest Point of Any U.S. President in 70 Years

Donald Trump reclaimed the Oval Office with the strongest poll numbers of his political career. But as he nears the 100-day mark of his new term, a fresh CNN poll conducted by SSRS shows that public opinion has taken a sharp downturn.

Trump’s approval rating now sits at just 41% — the lowest for any newly elected president at this point in office since at least Dwight Eisenhower, including during Trump’s own first term.

Since March, approval of Trump’s performance has slipped 4 points, and it's down 7 points compared to late February. Only 22% of Americans say they "strongly approve" of how he’s handling the job — a new low — while about twice as many, 45%, say they "strongly disapprove."

Support among key groups has also eroded. Approval among women and Hispanic Americans has each dropped by 7 points, falling to 36% and 28%, respectively. Although partisan divides remain sharp — with 86% of Republicans backing Trump and 93% of Democrats opposing him — his standing among political independents has also weakened. Just 31% of independents now approve of the job he’s doing, matching his lowest level with that group from his first term and mirroring his numbers from January 2021.
